She is survived by: her children, John Sargent Whitney, Jr., Wendy Whitney Makins and Louise Whitney Mellon; her brother Robert Adamson; and her grandchildren, Jennifer Brooks Lee, Elisabetta Cortesi, Isabella Cortesi, John Sargent Whitney, III, Armistead Burwell Whitney and Marian Whitney Makins.
