It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Margaret Bosch (Washington, District of Columbia), born in Salt Lake City, Utah, who passed away on August 25, 2018, leaving to mourn family and friends. She will be missed. " - Jackie Flom View Sign MARGARET ANN GATES BOSCH "Mardy" Died peacefully August 25, 2018 in Greenspring Village, Springfield, VA, she was 93. Mardy was predeceased by the love of her life, Frank (Lt. Col. Frank L. Bosch). Mardy had nine children, each of whom was her favorite. She is survived by Steven and his wife Cynthia, Gordon, Bonnie, Kevin, Margaret Mary, Victoria, Mary Frances and her husband Aaron and Paul and his wife Pam. A daughter, Barbara Joy, predeceased her. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Mardy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to a mining engineer and a homemaker and teacher. Due to the Great Depression her family moved to Brooklyn, NY where she met Frank while in High School. They bonded through their love of art, strong Catholic faith and devotion to family. They were married for 56 happy years. Mardy described herself as a devoted Air Force wife, mother, devout Catholic and artist. While Frank was active duty, she managed multiple moves and a number of long stints alone, managing the family while Frank was deployed. She found time to demonstrate her skills as a talented artist and gardener. She created in oils, prints, pen and ink and watercolors. Mardy and Frank retired to Annandale, VA, in 1969 where they lived for 43 years in a home surrounded by her beautiful gardens. She loved the St Michaels Church community, particularly the Knights of Columbus and the Casey Women's Club. When her youngest turned 10 she decided to return to work and became an Usher and Tour Guide at the Kennedy Center where she worked for 35 years. In her words, "other than being a mom, it was the best job in the world." Mardy moved to Greenspring in 2012, where she maintained old friends and met new. Mardy cherished her large family and loved to entertain. Over the years she and Frank took in for days, weeks and even months extended family, friends, friends of family and even friends of friends. They had big hearts and were consummate hosts. They were stalwarts of their community. She and they will be sorely missed. She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the in her name. Services will be private for family and friends.
