He is survived by: his spouse Joan Marie Olsen Pinnix; his sons, Joel Stern Pinnix (Patricia Hurley) and John Olsen Pinnix (Carter); his grandchildren, Joel Harrison Pinnix, Charles Ernest Pinnix, Caroline Mae Pinnix and John Carter Pinnix (Jack); and his sister Ruby Lee Pinnix Shore.
