It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Hailes Jr. (Washington, District of Columbia), who passed away on January 15, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hailes, Sr. and Ellen Hailes; and his siblings, Louise, Geraldine, Roger and Joseph.
He is survived by: his siblings, Mildred Lacy, Donell (Brenda), Julian, Edward, Stanley (Jacquelyn) and Larry (Lynn); and his aunt Carrie Diggs. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A prayer was held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM. Viewing was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gethsemane Baptist Church (5119 4th St NW, Washington, DC 20011). A celebration of life was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
