With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Beulah Dancy Drake-Butler in Washington, District of Columbia, born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 15, 2025 at the age of 96. In the sacred silence of farewell, Beulah Dancy is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Beulah Dancy's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leila Drake and King Dancy; her husband James E. Butler; her sister Lossie B. Gilbert; and her nephew Terry W. Gilbert.
She is survived by:, Herbert W. J. Gilbert, Jr. (Patricia), Gregory J. Gilbert, Sr. (Sandra), Dr. Marcia F. Gilbert-Gregory (Billy) and Valerie James-Gilbert. She is also survived by great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Church (12010 Woodmore Rd, Mitchellville, MD 20721). A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
