It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Arneatha Slade (Washington, District of Columbia), born in Lynchburg, Virginia, who passed away on February 25, 2020, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John David McCain and Sarah Lee Carter McCain; her siblings, Ewallace McCain, Shirley Medley, Nancy McCain, Nanette McCain, Dorothy Miller and Willie Green McCain; and her husband Herman L. Slade.
She is survived by: her children, Mildred A. Irons (New Carrolton, MD), James E. Slade (New Carrolton, MD), Ronald L. Slade and Sarah J. Slade (Washington, DC); her great grandchild Shamyrah Irons; her adoptive daughter Jo Ann Sellman of Martinsville, VA; her siblings-in-law, Otis Slade (White Plains, MD), Cathy Lester McCain of Danville, VA and Patricia Robertson of Ruffin, NC; her grandchildren, Kevin Tate, Jeromy Irons, Dana Roberts and Keaton Irons; and her great grandchildren, Tarreah Tate, Jaden Irons, Jazzmine Irons and Darrell Irons. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
