Russell left this world on February 16, 2025 at the age of 76, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell T. Dowd and Catherine Dowd (Sullivan); and his brother James A. Dowd. He is survived by: his nephews, James and Adam; his niece Anne-Marie; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Dawnielle, Jack, Lucas Dowd and Marijane Thibeault.

Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Gilman Funeral Home (104 Church St, Putnam, CT 06260). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Church (218 Providence St, Putnam, CT 06260).

Donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and/or the Muddy Brook Fire Dept.

“Russ was a childhood friend and we stayed in touch as both of us got older and had health problems. Russ was always asking me about my health and never talking about his own health issues. We used to stay at each other’s homes as kids and I was going to see him in March when he got out of rehab. One of my best friends, I truly loved that guy and will miss him profoundly but will see him pretty soon. Howard Neff”
