He was predeceased by: his wife Phyllis Monroe (Collins); his parents, Richard Monroe and Dorothy Monroe (Pendergrastt); and his children, James, Steven and Jodi.
He is survived by: his children, Robert W. Monroe of Becket, MA, Michael Monroe of Winsted, CT, Gregg Monroe of Goshen, CT and Lisa Smith of Torrington, CT; and his sister Barbara Cummerford. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren as well as 2 great grandchildren.
