He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael T. Basil and Margaret Basil (Boyle); his wife Joyce Basil (Marino); and his brother James V. Basil. He is survived by: his sons, Jason D. Basil (Christine) of Templeton, MA and Marc D. Basil (Alexandra) of Southbury, CT; his siblings, Donald E. Basil (Mary) of Waterbury and Linda Branscum of Sandusky, OH; his half-brother Michael Basil (Diane) of Thomaston; his grandchildren, Sophia, Olivia, Matthew, Luca and Josie Basil; and his siblings-in-law, Diana Garofalo (Alfred) of Waterbury, Marlene Lorusso (Tony) of Southington and Joe Marino (Donna) of Waterbury. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
