He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara J. Hamel (Wyer); his parents, Percy Hamel and Yvonne Hamel (Bouffard); and his brothers, Joseph Hamel and Roger Hamel.
He is survived by: his sons, Arthur J. "Skip" Hamel, Jr. (Joyce) of Windsor, Deacon Richard H. Hamel (Irene) of Harwinton and Christopher M. Hamel of Argyle, TX; his grandchildren, Rebecca Tiscia (Patrick) of Bristol, Jason Hamel of Torrington, Brian Hamel of East Hampton and Michele Hamel of Waltham, MA; his great grandchildren, Ellie and Jack; and his sister-in-law Helena Hamel of Meriden. He is also survived by other extended family and friends.
