He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Koistinen and Marcella Koistinen (Dempsky); and his brother Herbert Koistinen. He is survived by: his wife Irene Koistinen (Toper); his children, Robert P. (Kimberlee Koistinen) of Suffield and Susan I. (Ralph Santabarbara) of Windsor Locks; his sisters, Barbara Latonie of East Granby and Pauline Smalley of New Hartford; his grandchildren, Katherine Koistinen Hastings, Michael P. Koistinen, Louis P. Santabarbara, Kristine Koistinen and Donna Santabarbara; and his great grandchildren, Tobin and Delaney Hastings. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He always looked forward to bus trips to the casino and was a Covid-19 survivor.
