He was predeceased by: his parents, James Murphy and Pauline Murphy; and his brothers, Jimmy Murphy and Michael Murphy. He is survived by: his son Dennis Murphy Jr.; his daughter-in-law Marci of Windsor Locks; his daughter Krista Leamy (Scott) of Mesa, AZ; his granddaughters, Jacqueline, Alexis Murphy, Gabrielle and Joelle Leamy; his sisters, Nancy Butryman (Billy) and Kathleen Bombetto (Jack); his sister-in-law Patty Murphy; and his brother Kevin Murphy (Julie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
