He was predeceased by: his sister Mary Strong; and his brother-in-law William Gustafson. He is survived by: his spouse Marjorie Gustafson; his children, James M. Courneen of Newington, Linda C. Cowles of Newington, Diane M. Marrero (Angel Luis Marrero) of Windsor, Sharon J. Courneen and Christopher Dent of Wethersfield; his grandchildren, Jason Courneen (Alexis Courneen), Julie Myers (Cowles), Shannon Cowles, Jeffrey Courneen, Lindsay Steller (Cowles), Jaclyn Courneen, Austin Courneen Bovino and Nicholas Marrero; his great grandchildren, Brynna Courneen, Riley Courneen, Mason Myers, Mason Courneen, Zachary Myers and Christian Steller; his brother Colonel Robert (Retired); his siblings-in-law, Linda Gustafson and Richard Gustafson; his wife Marge; and also, Spencer Means, Eleanor Nuffort, Dick Nuffort, Bill Foley Jr. and Pat Foley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
