It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Edward Gregory Mele (West Suffield, Connecticut), who passed away on October 11, 2018, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Brittell Mele; his siblings, Chelso "Tex" Mele, Leo Mele, Henry Mele, Anthony Mele, Dante "Jack" Mele and Constance Smalley of Sylvia Mitchell; and his son-in-law Richard Lurie.

He is survived by: his parents, Dante Giocomo Mele and Castione Andevenno; his sister Shirley Moore; his daughter Valarie Lurie; and his grandson Brian Bari. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Connecticut Humane Society, 711 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111, would honor Ed and Carolyn's love of animals.
