He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Shapter and Harriet Shapter; and his siblings, Charles Shapter, Edward Shapter and Margaret Green (Joseph Green).
He is survived by: his wife Maureen Shapter; his children, Douglas Shapter (Caroline Foster) of Annapolis, MD., Anne Shapter, MD of Vernon, CT, Lauryn Shapter (Dennis Arbaugh) of Fairfield, IA and Christine Shapter, MD (Maureen Czick) of Vernon, CT; and his grandchildren, Evelyn Burt (Timothy Burt) of Annapolis, MD, Linnea Shapter of Washington, DC, Katie Green of Vernon, CT and Jack Green of Vernon, CT. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
