Rita Zander Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rita Zander of West Hartford, Connecticut, born in Torrington, Connecticut, who passed away on June 14, 2021, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Given Covid times and travel restrictions, plans and timing for a "celebration of life" are not yet determined, and will be arranged at some future date.

“My name is Gary Batchelder born in 1945 would make me 6 years are old in second grade at Southwest school, class of 1958 I believe. Mrs. Zander was my favorite teacher-ever. I remember the time Richie Luciani kept talking to me and I got blamed. Well Mrs. Zander got me by the ear and marched me out to the umbrella rack in the hallway. I colored all my "stars" in our work book black. I visited her in West Hartford after her husband died. She was always pretty. Robins, Bluejays, & Sparrows!!”
