She was predeceased by: her husband Jose Fernandes; her daughter Maria Margarida Fernandes; and her brother Antonio Rui Sousa Madeira. She is survived by: her daughter Diane; her son-in-law Bill Mazzatto; her grandchildren, Andrew of West Hartford and Emily Mazzatto of West Hartford; and her sister Odilia S. Hermenegildo of West Hartford. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and her very dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria's memory to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Kane Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
