Hilda N. Doucette Obituary
Hilda N. Doucette, 92, of West Hartford, CT, passed away on Wednesday, April 12 at UConn John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. She was born in Barre, Massachusetts on September 13, 1930, the youngest daughter of Mildred (Barr) and Albert Nelson, and was raised and schooled there.
Always a very thorough, and hard worker, she loved the outdoors, tending to her yard and landscaping, keeping everything looking beautiful and better than she found it. She loved to laugh, was quick to share a smile with a stranger, always making friends wherever she went. A lifelong music aficionado, Hilda possessed amazing recall of song titles and lyrics, especially in the jazz realm, and loved attending live jazz events in the area.
She was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters, and is survived by four children: Deborah Tew of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Hanhepi M. Dylan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Jo A. Doucette of Bloomfield; and Donn Doucette of Bristol. She also leaves numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her firstborn son, Kenneth Hardy, predeceased her in 2002.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford, alongside her beloved husband of 30 years, the late Merrill Doucette, a gifted pianist who she lost to an automobile accident in 1986. Graveside service will be private. Donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Smile Train, as Hilda especially liked charities that help little kids.
