He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard F. Way and Bernice Way (Stoughton); and his sister Nancy J. Day (Way). He is survived by: his wife Delma Way (Villalba); his children, Susan L. Way (Patricia G. Sheron), Karen T. Way (Abbas Qutab) and Richard E. Way (Margaret); his grandchildren, Richard E. Way, Jr., Jennifer E. Way, Tamur Qutab and Marina Qutab; and his brother David A. Way (Marie).
