Beloved mother, grandmother & sister" Marguerite "Marge" P. Cocca, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Carlo A. Cocca, who passed away in 1981. Marguerite was born in Waterbury, on February 26, 1935, daughter of the late Antonio and Margaret (Mancini) Ponzillo. She was a graduate of Wilby High School. Marge worked for the State of Connecticut Labor Department as a secretary in the Field Audit Unit until her retirement in 1997. Marge enjoyed her monthly lunch club with the girls, spending time with her family in Rhode Island and monthly dinners with the Ponzillo family, but truly adored and loved spending time with her grandson, Taylor. Marge leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Judith Birtwistle and her husband, John, of Oakville, with whom she made her home, her brother, Anthony "Nino" Ponzillo and his wife, Marie, of Englewood, FL, her grandson, Taylor Birtwistle and his girlfriend, Ashley Andreycak, her sister-in-law, Lucille Ortelle and her husband Tony, of Waterbury a brother-in-law, Theodore Cocca of Rhode Island and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Alphonse and Domenic Ponzillo. Marge's family would like to thank Dr. Gniadek, Dr. Kelly and Dr. Schoenfeld for the care, kindness and compassion extended to Marge and her family over the years. Arrangements: Funeral will be held Friday, September 7, 2018, 9 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury to St. Mary Magdalen Church, Oakville for a Mass of Christian Burial with the cremains present. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 29th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Marge's memory to: St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
