He was predeceased by: his parent Blanche Marchand. He is survived by: his parent Donat Marchand; his siblings, Ruth Wickham, Donat Marchand (Jan) of Greenwich and Chuck Marchand (Diane) of Virginia; his children, Denise Lancaster (Michael) of Blufton, S. C., Gilles Marchand Jr. (Chip) of Guilford and MaryBeth Marchand of Old Saybrook; and his grandchildren, Emily, James, Matthew, Timothy and Jane. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and longtime neighbors and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gil's memory may be made to the donor's choice in honor of his joy for reading: Waterford Public Library; his continuous pursuit of knowledge: Waterford High School Scholarship Fund; or his love of animals: the Waterford-East Lyme Animal Shelter.
