With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Athena Missios of Waterford, Connecticut, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Athena left this world on February 4, 2025 at the age of 83, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Spiro Mandes and Ethel Mandes; her husband George D. Missios; and her brothers, Arthur and Stephen Mandes.
She is survived by: her children, Helen Dawley (George) of Waterford, James Missios (Christine) and Mike Missios (Beth) of Uncasville; her granddaughters, Larissa, Marikka, Rebecca, Jennifer, Kassandra, Athena and Karina; her great grandchildren, Evangelina, Iliana, Theo and Athena; and her brothers, George, Peter and John Mandes.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church (200 Hempstead St, New London, CT 06320). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
