She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Smith and Jack Smith of Ansonia; her husband Francis Matthews (Frank); and her siblings, Gwendolyn Spencer, Laverne Smith, John Keith Smith and Curtis Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Melissa Langey (Curtis) of Waterbury, Tonya Goodman (Jerry) of Waterbury and Reese Blathers (Darryl) of Waterbury; her brothers, Terry Spencer of Virginia and Michael Spencer of New Haven; her grandchildren, Jerry Goodman Jr. (LJ), Deja Martin, Janelle Goodman, Terrell Miller, Jayden Goodman, Roshana Blathers and Augustus Bailey (PJ); her great grandchildren, Jeremiah Goodman, Zay'Air Iglesias and Zhi'Lon Trimmier; and her friends, Stephanie Sapp-Dean, Denise Perry-Lowe and Emma Williams.
