He was predeceased by: his parents, Johannes Gaathje and Marit Gaathje (Furu); and his brothers, Eric and Rolf Gaathje. He is survived by: his children, Peter J. Gaathje, Jr., Carl K. Gaathje and Deborah Gilbert; his grandchildren, Ashley Gaathje, Kyle Gaathje, Marissa Gaathje and Alex Gaathje; and his great grandchildren, Ryan, Callie and Grayson.
