It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert E. Smith (Vernon Rockville, Connecticut), born in Willington, Connecticut, who passed away on December 4, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though his name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Robert leaves upon the hearts of his loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of his spirit and the richness of his legacy.
He was predeceased by: his wife Elaine Amiot Smith. He is survived by: his sister Elizabeth Robertson; his children, Laurel (Arthur), Ernest (Karyn) and Carrie (Kenneth); and his close friend Irene Folger. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home (76 Prospect St, Vernon, CT 06066). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location. During the pandemic, he moved to Sarasota FL to be near his children and their spouses.
