He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Samantha Ellis (Timothy Kenney, Jr.) and Robert Ellis (Diane Ellis); and his siblings, Robert Ellis Jr. (Susan), Eugene Ellis (Kathleen), Timothy Ellis (Noreen), David Ellis and Kathleen Lutz (Michael). He was also cherished by 13 nieces and nephews, 5 great nieces and nephews.
