He was predeceased by: his sister Deirdre McCarthy. He is survived by: his wife Christine McCarthy (Nappo); his parents, Maureen (Twomey) and John F. McCarthy, Sr. of Juno Beach, FL.; his children, Caitlin McCarthy of Boston, MA, John F. McCarthy, III of Boston, MA, Cara McCarthy of Boston, MA and Julia McCarthy of Torrington, CT; and his siblings, Michael McCarthy of Pittsburgh, PA and Patricia McCarthy (William Jones) of Bethesda, MD. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

All attending funeral services are requested to follow CDC guidelines by wearing protective face masks while inside St. Anthony's Church and Cook Funeral Home.
