William Salvatore Mille Obituary

William (Bill) Salvatore Mille, 72, of Tolland and formerly of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Manchester Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Hartford on July 25, 1952, son of the late Salvatore Mille, Jr., and Geraldine (Smith) Mille, he was raised in Bloomfield and was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, Class of 1971.

After high school, Bill continued his education at the University of Hartford where he received his associate's degree in science/chemistry. He worked for a brief time in a convenience store at the Connecticut Bank & Trust Company in Hartford CT through a State program for the blind prior to becoming a cable installer for several years.

Bill was an easy-going guy who loved playing basketball and riding his dirt bike in his early years. He was the "fun uncle;" when his nieces and nephews would visit, he made sure there was plenty of candy on hand to give to everyone-- particularly 'smarties'. Bill liked recording music and videos and had a collection of tapes which he listened to and watched over and over. He especially loved the three stooges. Despite his disability of sight Bill managed to travel on his own to visit his sisters in Florida, and the Casino's in Las Vegas several times during his lifetime.

He leaves four siblings, Rosemary Tucker of Rockledge, FL, Judy Mathias and her husband Jerry of Port Orange, FL, Joan Macri and her significant other Dennis Souza of Edgewater, FL, and Joseph Mille and his wife Linda of South Windsor; three nieces and a nephew, Kimberly Derosier and her husband Donald of Vernon, Monica Winkler and her husband Brian of Vernon, Michelle Strich and her husband Jeffrey of Potomac, MD, and Joseph Mille, Jr. of Medway, MA; seven great-nieces and nephews, Shea Smith and her husband Travis of Wethersfield, Colby Derosier of Vernon, Dominic Cofrancesco of South Windsor, Anthony Cofrancesco of Vernon, Joshua Winkler of Vernon, Amalie Strich of Potomac, MD, and Austin Strich of Potomac, MD; and many cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Carl Tucker and Louis Macri Jr.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 21, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., followed by a family service at 1 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Board of Education for the Blind.
