He was predeceased by: his wife Lillian Butkevich (Gustafson); his parents, John Butkevich and Anna Butkevich; his daughter Susan Butkevich; and his siblings, Mike Butkevich, Olga Zubik and Mary Zubic.

He is survived by: his children, John Butkevich (Mary) of Thomaston, Richard Butkevich (Paula) of Pomfret, Margrit Fusco (Joseph) of Easley, SC, Karen Johnson (Joseph) of Plymouth and Karol Nicoletti (Rick) of Burlington; and his sisters, Frances Allegrini and Helen Daniels. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He then started his own company, Pete's Concrete Foundations, a foundation/home building business.
