She was predeceased by: her husband John F. Smith; and her parents, Walter E. Bates and Marguerite Bates (Kern). She is survived by: her son J. Gregory Smith (Beth) of Stratford; her grandchildren, Ashley and Connor; her siblings, Gary Bates (Joyce) of New Milford, Sheila Plourde (Roger) of Maine, Sandra Galaro (Bruce) of Utah and Denise Bates Jurasek of Newtown; her sister-in-law Dorothy Cocozza (Louis) of Easton; and her friends, Barbara Bourland of Wallingford and Pat McGrath of Shelton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
