She was predeceased by: her parents, Melania Kormanik and Michal Kormanik; her husband Stephen Joseph Michaels; her daughter Melanie Michaels Ordner; and her siblings, Vasil Kormanik, Anna Vislocka, Katarina Hlinkova and Melanie Konevalova.
She is survived by: her children, Stephanie Michaels Jones (Richard Jones) of Delaware and Gregory Stephen Michaels (Janet Leary Michaels) of Colorado; her grandchildren, Vanessa Maria Talley, Rachel Barbara Jones, Emilia Georgianna Ordner, Miranda Rose Michaels, Luke Stephen Jones, Magnus Martin Ordner and Stephen Atlas Ordner; her great grandchild Aubrielle Talley; and her sisters, Justina Murgasova and Helen Kaminsky.
In place of flowers, Maria asked for monetary donations to the Wounded Warriors Project.
