She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Chester Ferguson and Effie Ferguson (Pruett); her husband James A. Chappell (Jay); her children, Larry Chappell (Gayle) of North Stonington, Jerry Chappell (Marsha) of Virginia Beach, Diane Chappell DeBoer (Eldon) of Sioux Falls, S. D., Elizabeth Chappell Masalin (Steven) of Ledyard and Ruth Chappell Austin (Mark) of Ashaway; and her sister Joyce Keller of Mount Pleasant, AR.. She was also cherished by nineteen grandchildren and forty-nine great-grandchildren.
