He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrtle Steele and Frank Steele of McComb, OH.; his wife Helene; his sister Mary Ewing of Findlay, OH; and his children-in-law, John Wilson and Desiree Steele.
He is survived by: his children, Donald Backhurst (Toni) of Hendersonville, TN, Eileen Wilson (John) of St. Augustine, FL, Robert Steele Jr. (Desiree) of Dunlap, IA and Cynthia Pucci (Richard) of Darien, CT.. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
