He was predeceased by: his parents, Gertrude Daily Burchard and Earle S. Burchard of Stamford, CT.; his wife Helen D. Burchard; and his sister Elenor Shields (Gerald). He is survived by: his son Douglas S. Burchard of Stamford; his daughter-in-law Kari Burchard of Stamford; and his grandchildren, Tyler Burchard of Stamford and Eleni Piner (Leland) of Virginia. He is also survived by 6 nieces.
