He is survived by: his father George Merritt; his wife Tanya Merritt; his former wife Neater Mae Merritt; his children, Hershella Merritt of Bridgeport, Donald Merritt, Jr. of Stamford, Patricia Ann Merritt of Stamford, Lorraine Isabelle Merritt of Stamford and Kenneth Merritt (Marjorie) of Bridgeport; his brother William Merritt (Ora) of Statesville, NC; his close friend Vinnie Harrison; his stepchildren, Gina Smith, Dorothy Saunders, Derek Saunders and Sonya Saunders; his stepgranddaughter Tracina Garner; and his friend Jackie Person. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Church of Christ (1264 High Ridge Rd, Stamford, CT 06903). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
