He was predeceased by: his son Robert Sargent; and his siblings, Michael, Stanley and Janet Acelin. He is survived by: his spouse Rose Socha (Applebee); his children, Art Sargent (Patricia), Tina (Frank Fruciano) and William Sargent (Pamela); and his grandchildren, Melissa Sargent and Megan Sargent. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
