He is survived by: his spouse Frances Gemza Matis; his parent Mary Weber Matis; his children, Sharon Matis of Gales Ferry and Richard Matis (Elizabeth) of East Lyme; his grandchildren, Daniel Matis (Melissa Johnson) and Corinna Matis Linski (William Linski); his great grandchildren, Dylan Matis and Chase Linski; and his sister Helen Matis of Southport.
