He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Richard Bliss Sr. and Virginia Bliss; and his daughter Clara. He was also cherished by 5 siblings, and 8 nieces and nephews.

“Richard and I were graders for the CFA exam for several years. We played basketball, attended group functions, and shared many meals together, and we always shared about our families. We kept in touch outside of grading. I know how much he loved his daughter and how proud he was of her. I considered him a good friend. He was very gentle, kind, and caring.
