Richard L. O'Connell Obituary
Richard L. O'Connell was born July 12, 1933, to the late Eugene O'Connell and Muriel O'Connell in Stamford, Connecticut. He gracefully entered eternal rest December 8, 2024.
Richard loved his family and grandchildren and went out of his way to ensure we lacked nothing. His steady and even life rhythm impacted many lives. He was a handyman at heart, renovating the family homes and crafting furniture. He was an avid tennis player who enjoyed a good match with his friends. He was employed by the Southern New England Telephone Company where he started as a linesman and continued his career as an engineer working on the E911 system. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Of all the things about Richard, what rises above the noise of life was his legendary whistle, calling the children, the family dog and all in the neighborhood home, and that whistle still rings loudly.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife JoAnn E. O'Connell (Bello), his brother Eugene O'Connell and Sister Nancy Moran.
He is survived by two brothers Bruce O'Connell, Jeff O'Connell, two daughters AmyJo DeFelice, Julie O'Connell, two sons Richard O'Connell, Peter O'Connell, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and special friend Ellen Knepper.
