She was predeceased by: her husband James Edward McGowan; her parents, Robert Lamphier Vaill and Nellie Vaill (Strattman); her grandson Joshua McGowan; and her sister Elizabeth "Betty" Christie (Vaill).
She is survived by: her son Robert V. McGowan (Judith); her extended family, Sam of Vermont and Clay of Vermont; and her daughter Marcia G. McGowan of Watertown. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
