She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Stapf and Gertrude Stapf (Kelly); her brother Charles J. Stapf; her husband James J. Flaherty, Sr.; and her grandson Devin Patrick Flaherty.

She is survived by: her children, Betsy Rosa (Carl) of Southbury, Kate Beardsley (Charlie) of Southbury, Timothy Flaherty (Colleen) of Washington, D. C., Charles "Chuck" Flaherty (Connie) of Virginia Beach and James Flaherty, Jr. (Karen) of Woodbury; her grandchildren, J. C., Samantha, Gabrielle, Sean, Lauren, Dominic, Conor, Nathan, Nicolas and Grace; her great grandchildren, Ellie and James; and her sister Elizabeth Connell of Abilene, Kansas. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
