She was predeceased by: her parents, Parry Alston and Esther Thorp Alston; her husband Joseph Brown; and her siblings, Gussie Alston, Jaunita Johnson and Morton Alston.

She is survived by: her daughter Joyce Howell; her granddaughters, Patrice Howell and Khara Howell; her great grandchildren, Keyshawn Dulin, Joseph Dulin and Daniel Dulin; and her nieces, Rebecca Alston, Barbara Johnson and Johnna Hester.
