He was predeceased by: his siblings, George, Joseph and Mary Hickey. He is survived by: his wife Karen (Gulliksen); his children, James Jr., Janice O'Connell (Tracy) and Kristin Ruthen (Michael); his grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan, Madison, Kaedan O'Connell and Joshua Ruthen; his great grandchild Meira; and his sisters, Frances Beckerman and Joan Dooley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home (419 Buckland Rd, South Windsor, CT 06074). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Blessed Sacrament Parish - St. Bernard (25 St Bernard's Terrace, Vernon, CT 06066). A burial was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Wapping Cemetery (50 Oakland Rd, South Windsor, CT 06074).
