She was predeceased by: her son Charles R. Nielsen Jr.; and her siblings, George Hunt, Marvin Hunt, Warren Hunt and Barbara Christensen.

She is survived by: her sons, Bruce Nielsen (Maryann) of Broad Brook, Eric Nielsen (Dawn) of Avon and Andrew Nielsen of South Windsor; her grandchildren, Kristen Nielsen (Dominic Carrano), Megan Nielsen (Jeffrey Carpenter), Heather Nielsen (Zoe Portman), Katie Nielsen (Josh Chagnon), Kelley Nielsen, Nicole Rizzo (Michael), Nicholas Colarusso (Kelli) and Dominic Colarusso (Amanda Richmond); her great grandchildren, Ellena, Elliott Carrano, Lennox Carpenter and Nathan Colarusso; and her sisters-in-law, Delores Hunt, Mary Lasbury and Alma Mooney.
