It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Irene Byrne of South Glastonbury, Connecticut, born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, who passed away on February 21, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Francis "Frank" Byrne; her parents, Robert Walsh and Irene Walsh; and her siblings, Robert and Margaret.

She is survived by: her children, Renee Anderson (Mark) of Colchester, Paul Byrne of Estero, FL, Stephen Byrne (Pat) of Media, PA, Kenneth Byrne (Alison) of Durham and Susan Jucker (Beat) of Royersford, PA; and her grandchildren, Molly, Colleen, Bridget Anderson, Matthew, Weston, Shannon Byrne, Ashley, Brittany Byrne, Hailey, Conner Byrne, Daniel and Patrick Jucker.

“We send our deepest sympathies to the Byrne family on the death of Irene. We knew both Frank and Irene from our beloved St. Augustine’s Parish. They were two of the first people to welcome us to our parish. They were kind and helped us to fit in. We served as lecturers and Eucharistic ministers with them. We’ll never forget Frank’s good humored teasing, looking at his watch when we came into church to make sure we were on time, and then Irene’s welcoming smile. Sincerely, Tom & Carol Aylward”
