He was predeceased by: his parents, James McCalligett and Emma McCalligett (Berthiaume); his wife Lillian McCalligett; his son James "Jimmy" McCalligett; his son-in-law Kenneth Battige; his great grandchild Connor Bullock; and his siblings, Edward, James McCalligett, Helen Guarente and Marie Freeman.
He is survived by: his children, Maryanne Battige of Enfield and Robert McCalligett (Pauline) of Somers; his granddaughters, Heather Bullock (Michael) and Jennifer Battige; and his great grandchildren, Danny, Matthew and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
