He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas G. Carey and Margaret Carey (Grant); and his sister Mary Alice. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Carey (Kelly); his son Peter (Abby); his grandchildren, Ava, Vivian and James; his son Matthew Carey (Kelley Anne); his grandchildren, Margaret, Fiona and Gerard Patrick; his children, Ryan Carey (Amy) and Austria; his grandsons, Grant and Ethan; his child Shannon Matyczyk (Stephen) of Simsbury; his grandchildren, Jackson, Caroline and Patrick; his siblings, Maggi Mooney (Bob) and Thomas Carey (Maureen) of Ohio; his cousin James Grant (Cheryl) of Farmington, CT.; and his siblings-in-law, Kate Bush (Nick), Eileen Barry, Mary Kelly (Scott Lazarus), Meg Pampush (Dave) and Joseph Kelly.
