He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew M. Matava, and Ebba Matava, Sr. (Nelson). He is survived by: his wife Janice Matava (Weedall); his daughters, Vicki Harris and Sharon Zieg; his sons-in-law, Christopher and Michael; his grandchildren, Niko Harris, Taylor Zieg, Zachary Harris and Andrew Michael Zieg; and his sister Marie "Sandy" Matava.
