He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward Knapp Sr. and Maud Bancroft Billings Knapp of Sandy Hook; and his father-in-law Manuel Sarmiento. He is survived by: his wife Gabriela Sarmiento-Knapp; his children, Ryan Knapp (Brittany) of Sandy Hook and Heather Bednar (Robert); his grandchildren, Addison Maud and Mackenzie Ann of Port St; his son Erik Knapp (Michelle); his grandsons, Joseph and Jack Bongiovanni of Oxford; his child Bryanna Villante (Joel Good); his grandchildren, Jack William Villante and Rowan James Good; his son Hunter Knapp of Stratford, CT; his nieces and nephews, Michelle Aynat-Bebon (Joseph) of Milford and Nicolette Aynat-Nolan (Thomas); his great-niece Jane; his great-nephew Linus of Bethany; his niece Melanie Aynat-Biehl (Christopher); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Henry and Wren of Cheshire; his brothers-in-law, Carlo Sarmiento (Carol) of Derby and Manny Sarmiento (Carrie) of Derby; and his mother-in-law Josefina Sarmiento of Derby. He is also survived by his five children, his two siblings, Gabriela's daughters, his in-laws.
