He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Bennett and Patience Shanklin Bennett; his brother Sterling; his son Bennett (Johnny Lee "Skeet" "Honeyman" Bennett, Sr.); his sisters, Celia Mae "Nick" Bennett-Jackson and Josephine "Mary Jo" "Girl" "Sister Baby" Bennett; and his granddaughter Imani Bennett.
He is survived by: his former spouses, Pearline Johnson and Ruffin Thomas Bennett (Carmen Ortiz); his spouse Cleavon Thomas Bennett, Sr. (Tisha); his brother Edward Bennett, Sr. (Jennifer) of Plaquemine, LA; his sisters-in-law, Edna Bennett of Zachary, LA and Catherine Johnson of Atlanta, GA; and his grandson Huey Bennett, III. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
